Domestic Violence Research Special Interest Group
“Generating the Evidence to Inform Policy & Practice”

This meeting of the Special Interest Group will explore aspects of research that are informing local policy and practice through four short presentations:
  • The experience and needs of male victims of domestic abuse in Northern Ireland Daryl Sweet, The Men’s Advisory Project
  • The evidence base informing the Integrated Domestic Abuse Programme Geraldine O’Hare, Probation Board for Northern Ireland
  • Children exposed to domestic abuse: helping student teachers understand their role in a primary school setting Bronagh McKee, Stranmillis College & Stephanie Holt, Trinity College Dublin
  • Older women’s lifelong experiences of domestic violence in Northern Ireland Anne Lazenbatt , John Devaney & Aideen Gildea, Queen’s University
The presentations will be followed by a discussion about the proposed scoping of local domestic violence research and the launch of the Special Interest Group list serve.
