From one blog to another – the Discovering Desistance project is definitely worth a look.
Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, the project has created a shared platform for discussing desistance and exploring methods of improving the process. The work, which is being co-ordinated by Fergus McNeill, Stephen Ferrall, Claire Lightowler and Shadd Maruna, involved the production of a documentary as well as workshops held in Glasgow, Belfast, London and Sheffield, and the blog itself which operates as a space in which to bring together evidence and incidents of successful desistance.
Watch The Road from Crime documentary here. Taking the success stories of ex-prisoners, the documentary asks “whether we can bottle and package these often intangible dynamics into our criminal justice interventions?”
