Care After Prison: An Emerging Success Story

David Stanton, TD and Chair of the Oireachtas Sub-Committee on Penal Reform, launched the report, ‘Care After Prison: An Emerging Success Story’ at the Carmelite Community Centre at 56 Aungier Street, on Wednesday 24th October.

The Care After Prison project was launched in October 2011, supported jointly by the City of Dublin YMCA and the Carmelite Community Centre, as a pilot project with capacity for 35 participants.  The service involves key workers liaising closely with clients to create and develop care plans in an attempt to help former prisoners establish a life on the outside.

The Project operates in the Dublin 2 and 8 postcodes and provides an information, referral and advocacy service for former prisoners and their families. Taking an holistic approach to needs such as housing, employment and addiction.
