Vicky Conway’s new book, Policing Twentieth Century Ireland: A History of An Garda Síochána is reviewed in The Irish Times today. Conway has written before on issues related to policing in Ireland, publishing The Blue Wall of Silence in 2010, which recounted and analysed the actions of gardaí in Donegal which led to the Morris Tribunal.
Throughout her work, issues of police accountability are key, and in her most recent work, a contextual historical glimpse at the development at the Garda Síochána is paramount.
